Ambev Will test 100% CNG truck

The model manufactured by MAN Latin America Will run in the city of Rio de Janeiro

MAN Latin America delivered to Ambev the truck Constellation 24280, which run 100% by vehicular natural gas (CNG). Among the many advantages of this model, compared to the diesel version, are the 20% reduction of the CO2 , a decrease of 5% noise emission level and estimated gain on the operation (R$/Km) of approximately 10%.

The model will be tested for six months, starting this May, in Rio de Janeiro by Coopercarga, which run the logistics operations for Ambev. Within a year the technology should be delivered to others Brazilian cities.

The operation also has partnership with Gas Natural Fenosa, responsible for supplying the fuel.

The new truck has a 200 km autonomy and the same payload capacity of the diesel version, being capable of transporting up to 10 pallets of 1250 kg equivalent of about 9400 bottles. The cylinders are made of carbon fiber with plastic liner and together occupy an area of 150 m3 behind the cabin.

“CNG is a alternative fuel much less toxic and cleaner, that already has a mature and pulverized distribution network in the country. This innovative project has the potential of change the fuel matrix of a huge part of the truck fleet in Brazil, making it cleaner and better for the environment” says Vinicius Barbosa, vice president of Logistics and Supply of Ambev.
